Disappointing Products | Makeup Review

I try a lot of makeup, like more then any twenty-one year old needs. I can't help it, I see something new and exciting and I just have to get it. It's a problem, an addiction even. There's nothing better then putting on a new mascara or lipstick and finding something amazing. On the other hand, I've found my fair share of duds, ranging from meh to get the hell away from me. Today we're going to go over some products that didn't do it for me.

Disclaimer: Just because I don't like a product, that doesn't mean it's useless. Everyone has different faces and tastes so what doesn't work for me, might be you're holy grail. Also, know that I really like all of these brands, no disrespect to any of them. I'm also going to recommend products from each brand because a) these are great brands and b) I don't want this post to be a complete wingefest.

Penneys Liquid Metal Eyeshadow in Sub-Zero

I really tried to make this work, I applied from the applicator, using a brush, my hands but every time it just went patchy. It never went on evenly and when I tried to fill in the gaps more product came off my lids. Just wasn't for me.
Opt for: With Penneys, you can't go wrong with there lipsticks, glosses and liners. I swear by them all. The nine shade palettes are a great choice too!

Revolution Conceal And Define Concealer

Hear me out on this. I used this concealer a lot, it's nearly empty. Clearly I don't hate it but would I repurchase it? No. It's just so thick and heavy on my skin. My under eyes looked like an eighty year old. The coverage is amazing, I won't deny that but I just don't get the hype.
Opt for: The Soph range, Fast Base Concealer, The Mascara Revolution. Just a few of their products I swear by.

Nyx Proof It! Eyeshadow Base

Ah, the product that started this post. Nothing about this base impressed me. It felt heavy. it creased like crazy. Worst of all it made my eyeshadow look awful. Colour clung to patches and refused to blend. I tried setting it and not setting it, used different amounts but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Opt for: Nyx's brow products are my holy grail, the pomade, gel, pencils, tinted mascara. I'd use them all and recommend them to everyone. Candy Slick and Slip Tease glosses are also strong favourites.

Rimmel Brow This Way Styling Gel

Tinted mascara is my favourite way to do my brows so I'm very picky about them. This did not hit the mark for me. It was just too liquidy, combine that with the large spoolie and it made a big mess. Was this reformulated? I swear I used it a few years ago and it was grand?

Opt for: Match Perfection Foundation! It's a medium coverage with a dewy finish and it's just beautiful. The Scandaleyes liners are great too, I lived for the black one in my teens.

Essence The False Lashes Mascara Volume Unlimited

I've had it up to here with Essence and their damn mascaras. I swear to god, everyone raves about them and they never suit me! The issue with this one? It's so messy, one teeny tiny wrong move and it's all aboard the panda eye express! I thought "I'll give it a couple weeks I'm sure it'll dry out a bit and be grand". WRONG! And the smudging, god the smudging was unbearable. Can you tell this one burned me bad?  I promise I love Essence, it's just this mascara...

A curved brush if you were wondering

Opt for: Essence does beautiful lipglosses, eyeliners in all the colours, a glowy primer that makes me feel like a radiant princess. I actually have a foundation to test from them, future post maybe?

LA Color Jumbo Eye Pencil in Sunkissed

I love a good eyeshadow crayon but it's hard to find a good one. This wasn't what I was looking for. The colour is a beautiful shimmer gold but the slightest bit of pressure on my first use and the pencil snapped completely. Not the worst thing ever but it never happened with the other ones I've used.

Quite a lot of product gone

Opt for: Full disclosure, I've never used this brand before so I can't recommend any products but I'll update this post when I do.

So there we go, a few products that weren't my favourites. Again if you like any of these, then I'm glad they worked out for you. So let me know, what are some products that didn't hit the mark for you?
